This project explores the potential of modular origami to construct a highly detailed, biomorphic form, a scorpion, through the repetition and combination of simple folded units. Built entirely from a lattice of interlocking paper modules in white and teal, the piece demonstrates how a single repeated folding technique can be scaled and organised to produce complex curvature, articulation, and structural rigidity without any cutting or adhesive. The woven, basket-like texture of the body and tail contrasts with the sharper, angular folds of the legs and pincers, creating a clear distinction between structural mass and articulated detail. The design investigates themes of modularity, repetition, and emergent complexity and how a basic geometric unit, multiplied and assembled with precision, can generate an intricate, naturalistic form. The result reflects an interest in the relationship between mathematical folding systems and organic structure, translating a rigid, repeatable process into a fluid, creature-like silhouette.
